About Silverleaf Sewing Co

Hi, It's Emm here,
Silverleaf Sewing Co began in 2015 whilst I was working at Helen Springs Station North of Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. With a desire to create a feminine, pretty and practical accessory that could be utilized in every day wear, the neck scarves were sewn being the initial product.

'Silverleaf' was choosen as the name for the brand from a broodmare on my parents property. The horse had always had a sweet nature and the word itself seemed whimsical and delicate in my mind, like a beautiful leaf blowing slowly in the wind. Going hand in hand for what the brand was hoped to be one day.

Sewing has been part of my family for generations, with my grandmother being a particularly talented seamstress & dress maker, to my own mother also creating us lovely clothes and items as well. With basic sewing skills from my family/school, I purchased my first sewing machine whilst at Helen Springs from the Tennant Creek post office. A basic machine where I taught myself to sew again by mending my team - the jackaroo and jillaroos work clothes. My sewing has developed since those early days however it is funny how one decision considered minor at the time to purchase a sewing machine can shape your life.

Now 10 years down the road, life looks a little different to when Silverleaf first began, however the main traits have not changed being passionate about providing lovely products. Life on the land continues to inspire me and now find myself truly blessed to have married my husband in March 2024 and live on his family farm near Mungindi in North West NSW.

All products made through Silverleaf Sewing Co depict a rural woman living her sewing dream of providing something beautiful and handmade for others. Thank you for visiting our site and supporting our business - it is hoped a smile came to your face reading our story.

Happenings
Over the years sewing, I have dabbled in making quite a few things from scarves, pillow cases, quilts, cushions, shirts, dresses, tea towels, napkins, baby clothes, bunting, scrunchies, wedding jarmies, embroidery and more. Sewing is a great creative outlet and also fun activity to take the mind off things with the best part being to end up with something lovely.
